Postby Mike Pensinger » Wed Mar 04, 2009 4:50 pm

This website, forum and photo gallery are the home of the USS DALE CG/DLG-19 Crew. It provides a gathering place to located old friends, swap sea stories, remember fallen shipmates and generally shoot the bull.

We ask that when you sign up you use your full name, e.g. Mike Pensinger, so that your old friends and shipmates can know who you are. The memberlist includes your service dates and which crew you were part of. There are too many features to go over in this post but if you have a question please feel free to post it in this forum and one of the Admins or Moderators will reply with the answer.

Mike discussed the problems  with the old site and the improvements :P on this new web site with me.The decision to make the change was not easy to make, we know there may be some grumbleing that the other site was only up a few months ago. This change was the correct decision and now is the best time to make it. ENJOY YOUR DALE WEB SITE
June 2009 We now have some time using the new board and many of us are using it's features. The more I post the easier and more interesting it gets.

Just a quick Q: Does this website have an application where both a rate and division can be included that can cede over in an advanced member search?

Joe, rate/rank and other items are possible. It all requires programing and of course that requires website  testing and changes. It has been discussed and no decision has been made yet. We will probably let the USSDALE.COM website stay as is for awhile until we are sure it is stable. Your request is noted and we thank you and encourage everyone to let us know what you would like to have.

Hey all! I finally got back on the site! I really like what you have done with this Mike! I am a web developer myself and as of recently, I've been diving in head first on web development. I am currently taking some courses online in XHTML, CSS and Accessibility. I have about two more courses to take before I get a Web Technologies Certification. Anyway, thought I'd come in here and post something and let you know I'm still kicking. I have received some info in the mail about the next reunion. I am hoping to try to make it to the next one. If I can come up with the finances these days...it is tough with a young family...well I'm not so young but my boys are :-). I'll try to visit the site more often and stay in touch.

Hey DLG crew,
I'm trying to locate the corpsmen who were on the Dale on the West Pac cruise in 1965. Doc Love was one of them then there was a chief. Anyone? Roger K

Ahoy Mike!

Have not been aboard for a long time and am impressed by the upgrades. Still have not learned all the navigating and some a little clumsy, but all in all, as they used to say, "congratulations on a job well done". I don't know what kind of an "E" you can put on your bridge. "IT" :geek:

Noticed quite a few old guys missing. I'll pass the word for them to re-register.

I understand a ships crew is all one crew, but it's made up of many Divisions and Departments. In the Dales long history a couple of Designations (DLG/CG). There are also commissioning Plank Owners for both designations as well as de-comm crews. Has any thought been given to using the crew list data base search engine for sorting by the various fields? Seems like that would be a nice feature for us all. Low priority but something to think about.

1 - I figured out how to add our photo to the signature line on posts . . . but it seems way to big. Is there a way to reduce the size? Especially for posts. I think this photo shouldn't be on the posts and will probably take it off.

2 - How do I add it to the profile?

3 - If we just want to add a one time photo to a post, is there a simple way to do that.
